Installing MSDE

Hi All,

I need help installing MSDE. I am using Windows XP. When I download it and try to set the password with the Command Prompt, it doesn't work. When I setup XP my username became the Admin. When I open the Command Prompt, it defaults into my documents and setting - I can't get a C:\ prompt. My login is the Admin and the old Administrator account isn't listed anywhere on my computer. Am I screwed? Do I have to reinstall XP and have the seperate Admin account? Please help.

Thanks,
TonyOK - I got it installed. When I rebooted the Icon came up but it's not connecting. It says there is no Service available. How do I set up a Service? I am running IIS5 on Windows XP Pro.

Installing Express toolkit

Hello

I have SQL Express with Advance report tools installed. I have download the express toolkit to use the Business Intelligence, however after I have installed the add on, when ever I select the Musiness Intelligence Management Studio I have a browser looking for the file Devenv.exe file and a reinstall is not working.

Can anyone help with this?

hi,

if you are running on Vista, the problem could be related to privileges required running devenv.exe.. you can try what's reported here, even if not strictly related to BIDS ..

regards

its sql server 7.0 and im looking for the service network utility and service manager that it didnt come with.. where can i download it?Did you install MSDE 1.0? That is indeed SQL Server 7.0. You should have instead installed MSDE 2000 which is the more recent version and is SQL Server 2000.

installation issues~

I am unable to download security updates for Outlook 2003- the message I got is: Error Code: 0x80070641...

when I tried installing any of the service packs (1,2, & 3) I am unable to as well. The message I get when doing this is:

The expected version of your product was not found on your system.

How can I fix this?

Thank you,

Ramzer

This is the SQL Server forum. My suggestion would be to locate an Outlook (or security update) forum and post the question there. I tried looking for one, but couldn't find it quickly. You could also post in the "Where's the forum for?" to see what they suggest.

Thanks,

Installation failed: error 0x6DDE

Hello

I can't install Sql Server Express with Analysys Service SP2 (KB 921896) from Windows Update because, after the download, the installation couldn't be completed.
The error code is: 0x6DDE.

Could you help me?

Thanks.

Paolo

When are you seeing this error? Are you manually installing or it WU running the install? Is it WU or SQL Server that is giving you this error?

Thanks,
Sam Lester (MSFT)|||

SQL Express does not contain Analysis Services. Are you sure you get the correct SP2 to apply on SQL Express?
