Installed, but can't ping 1433

Any and all help is appreciated as project deadline is approaching...

Background:
- Two servers, 1 running WinXP with all updates and 1 running Win2K3 Standard with all updates.
- Both have SQL Express 2005 June CTP installed
- Both have Visual Studio 2005 Express installed.
- Installation finished w/o any errors.
- Services are running (browser and database)
- TCP/IP and named pipes are enabled

Issue:
Can't ping 127.0.0.1:1433.
OSQL times out without being able to establish a connection
Windows Firewall is OFF.

Seems to be a connectivity issue, but I'm a newbie and can't figure out why I can't talk to the database.

Installation sequence

Just want to check whether I have the correct installation sequence...
(1) Windows Server 2003 then updates/service packs
(2) IIS6 then updates/service packs
(3) SQL Server 2000 then updates/service packs
(4) Reporting Services
Is that correct?

Installation of SQL server 2005 SP1

Hi,

We have the Windows server 2003 R2 Service PAck 2 , we got updated to this version after i installed automatic updates today,and i am having problems with setting up maintenance plan in SQL server 2005 (9.0.1399)

Hence i am trying to install Sql server 2005 SP1, but the read me file says that this installation is compatible only with Windows server 2003 SP1

Also, i received this error when i tried to install SQL server 2005 SP1 yesterday

"The image file hotfix.exe is valid, but is for a machine type other than the current machine"

I am confused, Can someone help me out in this regard?

The second part of the post (valid for another type of machine) typically refers to an error you see when you try to install an X64 (64-bit) service pack on an X86 machine (32-bit). For that one, I'd just suggest to double check that you have the corrent installation package for your machine.

installation issues~

I am unable to download security updates for Outlook 2003- the message I got is: Error Code: 0x80070641...

when I tried installing any of the service packs (1,2, & 3) I am unable to as well. The message I get when doing this is:

The expected version of your product was not found on your system.

How can I fix this?

This is the SQL Server forum. My suggestion would be to locate an Outlook (or security update) forum and post the question there. I tried looking for one, but couldn't find it quickly. You could also post in the "Where's the forum for?" to see what they suggest.

Installation error an error occured during move data process: -145...?

hi all..

please any one help me in installing sql sp4 in my w2k server machine having sp4 and all the other updates.i tried installing sql sp3 and newly downloaded sql sp4 but shows an error at 97 % of installation that "an error occured during move data process: -145"

its really urgent ....please

Installation Error - 'NOLOCK'

I get the following error when installing SQL Server Express SP2 on Windows XP SP2 with all current updates. The only other thing installed is .NET 2.0. Does anyone know how to resolve the issue.
