Installing cluster in Windows 2000 + 2003

I have a Windows 2000 that crashed and was part of a active/active SQL cluster (SQL 2000).
Instead of reinstall the box with Windows 2000, I reinstalled it with Windows 2003 Advanced.
In Cluster Administrator (on the Windows 2003 box), I am trying to add the node, and I always get the following error:
- sql1: The list of nodes to configure is empty.
- Error 0x800713ac: A cluster node is not available for this operation.
here's the content of the log:

Can anyone see anything wrong?

What do you suggest?

|||Paul,
As the log indicates try adding the new node (SQL1) after cleaning it up
using the "cluster node /forcecleanup" command.
2004-04-02 13:34:29.061 [WARN] sql1: This node is already a member of a
cluster, but the cluster service is not running. This node will not
be configured at this time. (hr=0x000001,

{8028BF97-2D57-4628-845D-C4BEFFEB531A}, 1, 1, 1), The
cluster service on this node is configured but is not currently running.
This node will be skipped and no further tasks will be performed on
it. If this node is not supposed to be a member of any cluster, then clean
it up using the "cluster node /forcecleanup" command and try
again.
Hope this helps.

Installing Analysis Services

I installed anaylsis services 6 months after I installed
SQL 2000. Do I need to reinstall the SQL Service Packs?I probably would, also make sure to install the service packs for analysis
services

Installation hangs!

Hi!
I've tried to install and reinstall (after thourogh removal) MSDE 2000 A. It
always hangs!
I've followed this document, but nothing helps.
http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...eMSDE2000A.htm
It seems in the install log, that the execution of sqlredis.exe hangs.
Any advice/help would be very much appreciated!

if you think that sqlredis.exe hangs, try separately re-installing MDAC
stack before installing MSDE ... you can get the desired version or the MDAC
package from http://msdn.microsoft.com/data/Default.aspx
you can check your current MDAC level using Component Checker, you can
download at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
please always add the
/L*v "c:\MsdeLog.txt"
parameter to your setup.exe bootstrap installer calls, in order to log the
installation process to a text file of about 2mb you can inspect for
RETURN VALUE 3
entries, that indicate errors, and, about 10/20 lines before or after each
entry you can fined some more (sometime cryptic) descriptive explanation of
the problem found...

Thanks for your reply!
It did not seem to help. The Component Checker reports that I have version
2.8 SP 1 on Win XP SP 2. I downloaded the Mdac 2.8 from the link you
suggested to reinstall it, but it reports that it's not intended for my
version of Windows, since its already included.
I paste the last few log rows from the MsdeLog.txt here (if that contains
any clues...):
It seems that sqlredis.exe just hangs forever...

Installation Error: Error performing inpage operation

Hi All,
I un-installed existing SQL Server 2000 on my PC (Windows XP Pro), and when
I try to reinstall I am getting the following error
Setup Initialization Error - Error performing inpage operation
I tried to remove all instances of SQL Server from my PC, and still the
installation did not work.
Could anybody help me identifying the cause.
Awaiting your expertise.
Thanks
Hi
Try copying the CD to your local drive and running setup from there. This
error is usually caused when a read error occurs on transferring data
between a drive and RAM.
If it occurs during the file copy, you have either a bad CD or a CD faulty
drive.

Installation Error

After I uninstalled Reporting Services (which it was working just fine) and
to reinstall it, the setup screen for installing SQL Server Reporting
Services Setup Support Files completes successfully. When I click the Next
button nothing happens.
If I go to the event viewer, I get this:
Faulting application SETUP.EXE, version 2000.80.743.0, faulting module
sqlspars.dll, version 2000.80.743.0, fault address 0x00059cf8.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
Any ideas? I turned on logging by doing this:
setup.exe /l*v setupmsi.log
and no log file was generated. Does anyone know what else I can try to get
this thing installed? I hope to god I don't have to rebuild my server. So
far, I have 3 servers that I cannot get reporting services installed on
since I have "screwed the pooch" on this by uninstalling RS - and now I
cannot put them back on. The development team is breathing down my neck on
this.
=-ChrisI apologize for the duplicate postings. I couldn't see this post and thought
that it didn't go through.
