Installing IIS and SRS at a later date

How difficult would it be to install IIS and SRS in a SQL Server 2005 x64 installation at a later date? What steps would I take?

Thanks!

Run the installer should be all that is involved.|||

I was thinking it might be that simple but preferred some confirmation.

Thanks!

Installing Client Tools

I recently installed an evaluation copy of SQL Server (Enterprise x64 edition). What's the proper way to load the management and analytical tools onto client machines? There are 2 separate problems:

1. The 64 bit program only comes with 64 bit tools. (Should I just download the 32 bit evaluation copy? Will the tools expire in 180 days on all the client machines?)

2. What are the licensing rules? Surely I am allowed to load client tools (but not the server itself) onto client devices. Is that right?

Thanks!Evaulation edition expiration only applicable to server components whereby you cannot use the server services, but for client tools I haven't seen such problem you can use them to connect to other SQL server instances.|||That's very helpful - thank you.

It would also be nice to know what the licensing rules actually are & what the best practice is supposed to be.|||Refer to this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/257716 page that clears about licensing policy on client tools, though it is for SQL 2000 all the information is still applicable to SQL 2005 in this case. I would also ask you to refer to the local Microsoft support for more information on licensing, as x64 is bit new in recent times.

What can I do solve the problem?

I would run through a manual uninstall procedure:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909967

and then try and re-install it.

Installation problem - Enterprise x64 on WS2K3 SP2

All,

I am attempting to install SQL Server 2005 x64 on a pristine WS2K3 R2 SP2 system. The only thing I have installed on the system so far is the .NET framework 3.0 for SharePoint.

The SQL Server installer works until I get to the Feature Selection screen. The only two features that are supported are the client tools and the Documentation. Nothing else.

Any ideas?

Scott

Sounds like you have a 32bit OS.

SQL Server 64 bit will NOT install on 32 bit OS.

|||

I just double checked... it's the 64-bit version of Windows Server 2003. I have also installed service pack 2.

Are you using right CD?

I have seen two CD/DVDs somties, one contains client componets and other complete sql...

so you may need to double check your installation media.
